Girl Scouts

Girl Space- Girl Scouts meets on Tuesdays from 2:10-3:10 pm and is open to all girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. Girl Space “builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place”.

Girl Space offers fun learning activities which include STEM, Financial Literacy, arts and crafts, special events, field trips and much more!

First Lego League Team Mighty Mustangs

Melrose Park’s First Lego League Team meets every Monday from 3:20-4:20 pm. Sponsored by Mrs. De La Pena and Mr. Miner, the team designs, builds and programs an autonomous robot using Lego Mindstorms Technology. Through this program, students get to:

  • Design, build, test and program robots using Lego Mindstorms Technology
  • Apply real-world Math and Science concepts
  • Research challenges facing today’s scientists
  • Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
  • Participate in tournaments and celebrations

 

Girls on the Run

“Girls on the Run is a program that gives girls an opportunity to build confidence and healthy habits. You’ll learn to make great friendships, celebrate all that makes you unique, and so much more! Each week, you will also take part in training and activities that will help build endurance for a celebratory 5k running event!”

Open to all GIRLS in 3rd, 4th and 5th.  Beginning March 2nd, 2017, practice will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15 pm –  4:30 pm.  Please see Mrs. Kabat for more information.

 

Cardio Club

Open to all students in third through fifth grade, Cardio Club, meets Mondays and Thursdays from 3:20-3:50 pm. Sponsored by Mr. Saucedo, Cardio Club aims to improve students’ fitness through cardiovascular exercise. Students monitor their own progress by using a heart rate monitor as they participate in different activities that require endurance, speed, and proper form.

Before and After School Tutoring

Melrose Park Elementary School offers Title I and Title III before and after school tutoring for those students who are in need of additional support. Must qualify and hours vary.
