Celebrating Computer Science Education Week

To celebrate Computer Science Education Week, the Mighty Mustangs joined over 679 million people in 180+ countries in the largest learning event called the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code introduced students to various interactive hands-on activities where they learned computational thinking skills and how to code.

Learning how to code is not only a one-week event for the Mighty Mustangs. At Melrose Park School the after school WozU coding clubs meet weekly. Students in grades K – 3 are learning the basics of coding using an Osmo device and an iPad while students in grades 4 – 5 are learning how to code using Ozobots bit coding robots.

Computer Science Education Week is an annual event that occurs during the month of December to recognize the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).
